Testimony From Chiropractic Stroke Victims
A recent hearing was held by the Connecticut Board of Chiropractic Examiners on whether to require chiropractors to warn patients about the risk of stroke from neck manipulation. If Connecticut approves the requirement, if would be the first state to do so.
Among the speakers who testified at two-day hearing were survivors of chiropractic strokes such as Janet Levy and Christa Heck, Britt Harwe and bereaved family members of chiropractic stroke victims who died from strokes caused by injuries during neck manipulation, such as Susan Hoffman, widow of John Hoffman (age 39) and Michael McCormick, widowed husband of Kim McCormick (age 32). In each of the latter cases, the state medical examiner concluded that the death was caused by stroke due to chiropractic cervical manipulation
